AR-Drone Quadcopters
OK now where can we start to explain this item. The AR-Drone is quite a unique flying machine. We were not sure if it is something that fits in with our range, as it is not quite radio control and it pretty well flies itself. It can be dismissed by true radio control modellers as too easy and fit only for the console games geeks.
There may be an element of truth in that thought but then, as R/C modellers we have to marvel at this machine as it sets many "firsts" in model flying concepts, innovation and ability.
I will try to sum of in one deep breath – It’s a Quadcopter controlled not by conventional R/C but from Mobile Phone or device with Wi-Fi (see list). It can be termed a FVP device that is a flying machine with a camera that transmits its aerial view as live video to a screen you hold so you see what an imaginary pilot onboard would see. (are you with me so far) . There are two cameras on board and the view from these can be seen on the hand held controller, being your mobile phone. The control signal is sent generated in your mobile phone to the AR-Drone. The Ar-Drone has lots of gizmos on board to keep it flying stable without your control but also be fully controllable as well.
There is so much to know about this item that a tour via google and Youtube would explain a lot more than I can here.
